Tip Your Hotel Housekeeper

When you stay at a hotel, you expect to have a clean and comfortable room to come back to after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings. But have you ever thought about who cleans and prepares your room? More often than not, it's the hard-working housekeepers who make sure everything is just so. I’m always surprised at how many people do not think it’s important to tip the housekeeper.

The next time you stay at a hotel, take a moment to think about the housekeeping staff. They work long hours for relatively little pay, and yet they're expected to provide impeccable service. A small act of kindness, like leaving a tip for housekeeping, can go a long way.

According to Forbes, the standard rate for tipping housekeeping is $2-5 per day. If you're happy with the service you've received, don't be afraid to leave a larger tip. I like to leave a tip each day of my stay, and not wait until the morning I leave. I also usually leave a note of appreciation with the tip. Trust me, it will be gratefully received.

So next time you stay at a hotel, don’t forget to show your appreciation for the housekeeping staff with a generous tip. A small act of kindness and a few extra dollars can make all the difference in someone's day.
